A HUNTING TRIP in a forested area in Moruga has left a 30-year-old man with gunshot wounds.
The victim, Airmin Joseph, of Upper Hill Street in Carenage, was said to be in stable condition at hospital.
According to police, around 1.15 pm on January 4, Joseph went to a forested area in Grand Chemin, commonly known as Canary Island, to hunt with his brother and two friends.
While walking through a bushy area, they heard an explosion, and he immediately felt a burning sensation in both feet before falling to the ground.
Upon checking, he saw both of his feet were bleeding.
He was carried out of the area by the men to the Princes Town District Health Facility.
No other injuries were reported.
The area is accessible only by boat.
The hunting season started on October 1, 2025 and comes to a close on February 28.
A report was later made to Moruga police, and Cpl Jointe and other officers went to the health facility, where they interviewed the victim.
PC Dookeran is leading the investigation.
