One Sevierville, Tennessee man was ordered to pay nearly $10,000 in fines after he committed hunting violations in Martin County.

Tanner Smelcer, 24, was charged in the incident, which happened in Oct. 2024, according to an arrest citation.

In his plea agreement, Smelcer illegally took and pursued elk as well as deer/wild turkey.

Smelcer was charged with 18 counts in the case but had some of them dismissed as part of his plea agreement.

According to the plea, Smecler was ordered to pay $5,000 as well as court costs through the Martin Co. Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.

Smelcer was also ordered to pay restitution for wildlife replacement costs, which totaled out to be $4,804.27. The plea stated that was payable through the Ky. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.

Smelcer’s hunting license was also suspended for three years and was banned from being on Czar Coal property or Coleman Strip Job.

The plea agreement stated that Smecler had one year to pay off the fees.
