SMITH COUNTY — According to booking information at the Smith County jail, Hershel Douglas Bohannon, 23, of Monterey, was arrested November 29 for hunting violations including “hunting from (a) motorized craft” and “shooting from a public road.” He was booked into the Smith County jail where he was to pay a $500 bond per charge. He was released from jail the same day.

Bohannon is an elected member of the Monterey Board of Mayor and Alderman.

In September 2012, Bohannon was charged with evading arrest by Monterey Police Officer Donathan Durham. Officer Durham was on regular patrol in Monterey when he saw a 4-wheeler traveling through town at a high rate of speed.
