Two people have been charged with illegally hunting an alligator out of season in Horry County, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said.

SCDNR said their officers received information about a person suspected of killing an alligator out of season in Horry County, prompting an investigation. An arrest warrant was obtained, and a person was jailed last Thursday and charged with hunting, taking, possessing, or disposing of alligator parts.

The investigation led to several other suspects being interviewed, and another person was arrested on Monday on the same charges. SCDNR said their investigation remains active.
