Wild turkeys shot in case of illegal hunting

Hanover Township police and the Pennsylvania Game Commission are investigating the illegal hunting of two wild turkeys on private property along South Main Street in Hanover Township.

Police said property owner Anna Pechulis reported Tuesday that someone shot and killed two wild turkeys on her property just before 8 a.m.

Pechulis told police that when she confronted the hunter, the hunter fled with the two turkeys. Investigators later located the turkeys behind a home on South Main Street.

Police said the area is designated by the Game Commission as a non-hunting “safety zone.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Hanover Township police at 570-825-1254.
