TROUT RUN – Just four days into the spring gobbler season, two male hunters were injured Wednesday morning when they were shot by a third hunter in what the state Game Commission is calling a “hunting-related shooting.”
The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening to either victim, whose ages and identities were not available Wednesday night.
One of the victims suffered a wound to the abdomen while the other suffered injuries to the hand, according to reports at the scene.
The shooting occurred in woods on private property in the 1900 block of Field Station Road, just west of Rose Valley Road, in Gamble Township about
10:50 a.m.
Emergency responders said it appeared that both victims were injured from a single gunshot that was fired by a hunter who was not in their group.
This was the first hunting accident of the season, which started Saturday, in Lycoming County, the Game Commission confirmed.
