COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Rescuers got an elk hunter out of the woods OK on Monday after the man used his cell phone to call for help.
Wayne Marney, 56, of Springfield called to report he was suffering a medical issue and was unable to get himself out of the forest west of Cottage Grove Lake, according to John Miller, Search and Rescue Coordinator for the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Marney was responsive but in wet clothing and suffering from moderate hypothermia. He was transported to an awaiting ambulance and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend for treatment.
