PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Bow hunter Michael S. Pekarek, 52, was indicted on Thursday after deputies say he fatally shot his hunting partner Jeffrey L.
Cummings, 45, with an arrow in the abdomen. The shooting happened on September 12th in Deschutes County.

Pekarek was indicted on charges of negligent homicide and second-degree manslaughter.

The two were hunting a mule deer when the incident took place.

Pekarek said he saw a deer and was ready to shoot when the animal moved out of view. He turned with his bow pointed toward Cummings to tell him the deer was moving his way. That’s when his arrow, released, striking Cummings in the abdomen.
