Man Sentenced To Prison For Hunting Violations
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — A South Charleston man will not be able to hunt this deer season and for seasons to come following a conviction on multiple state wildlife violations.
Larry C. Brown Jr., 45, was found guilty of two wildlife violations and one felony in the Champaign County Common Pleas Court.
Brown’s convictions stem from 2009 incident when a concerned citizen contacted a wildlife officer after seeing a man shoot a deer from his vehicle while stopping on the side of the road. The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Brown.
Brown was found guilty on two wildlife convictions of hunting deer from a public roadway and hunting deer by the aid of a motor vehicle. He was also found guilty of a felony of having weapons while under disability.
Common Pleas Court Judge Roger Wilson sentenced Brown to four years in prison, ordered him to pay a $500 fine, and imposed a three year revocation of his hunting privileges. Brown has been a chronic wildlife violator with more than five prior arrests for hunting violations.
