Seen hunting in road, man later charged with drunken driving
LYONSDALE – A Boonville man whose driver’s license had been suspended after a drunken driving conviction is facing felony charges after authorities say he again was intoxicated as he drove on a Lewis County road.
Darin Hirschey, 31, was stopped on Penny Settlement Road after troopers say they received a report that he was hunting from the roadway on nearby Brownville Road.
The caller gave a description of the vehicle that Hirschey was driving after it left the scene, troopers say.
He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.18 percent, troopers say.
Hirschey was ordered held at Lewis County Jail on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 secured bond, troopers say
