Hunting incident leads to arrest of 2 men
ARCADIA – An investigation into a hunting incident in November has resulted in the arrest today of two Wayne County men.
The investigation was conducted by State Police and police with the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
According to State Police, a group of at least eight hunters were driving deer in a wood lot near the Forest Country Trailer Park in Arcadia on Nov. 27 when Paul J. Byron, 36, of Williamson and Joshua A. Mayville, 20, of Ontario were standing in an open field and reportedly saw several deer.
Numerous shotgun rounds were fired at the deer and toward the trailer park. One shotgun round entered through an exterior wall of an occupied home in the trailer park and ended up in the master bathroom.
Byron and Mayville were both charged with second-degree reckless endangerment. Both have been released on their own recognizance.
Byron is scheduled to return to Arcadia court on May 4. Mayville is scheduled to return to court on May 18.
