Hunter injured, another unhurt after shootings
CATSKILL – State police have reported two hunting incidents took place Saturday, the first day of deer hunting season in the region.
A man was injured Saturday morning in the mountaintop area of Greene County when he was allegedly shot in the leg, state police said.
Emergency personnel said Sunday the man was transported via medevac to Albany Medical Center. The extent of the man’s injuries were not known by late Sunday.
Another incident reported Saturday involved a shooting which did not result in injury. A man was allegedly shot in the back but a backpack absorbed the blast, according to police.
Authorities reported the state Department of Environmental Conservation handled the incident investigations, and that charges may be pending.
The DEC could not be reached Sunday for comment.
Regular deer hunting season is Nov. 20 through Dec. 12.
