NY: Cortland County man killed in crossbow accident while hunting skunk

A 58-year-old man died Friday night after getting shot with a crossbow while he and another person tried to kill a skunk.

Shortly after 9 p.m., New York State Police in Homer responded to a home on Jipson Hill Road in the town of Taylor for a report of a man shot with a crossbow. Paramedics were already on the scene when troopers arrived.

Preliminary investigations showed that James R. Parker and another man were trying to kill a skunk outside the home. The other man shot at the skunk with the crossbow and accidentally hit Parker, troopers said.
