‘Lucky’ shot will cost turkey hunter more than $1,600
Brad Jenkins of Ocean Isle recently killed two birds with one shot, and it’s going to cost him.
Jenkins brought down two turkeys, a 20-pounder and a 16-pounder, during a hunting trip in Columbus County, an article at Whiteville.com says. Jenkins was so proud of his shot that he submitted his photo with the birds to the News Reporter.
Now, according to the article, he’ll have to pay more than $1,600. Hunters are permitted to take two turkeys during the season, but only one per day. So, shooting two birds with one shot is illegal. The $1,617 fee is the replacement cost of the bird, and Jenkins could face additional court costs associated with the case.
