NC: hunting accident involving a child

WADESBORO — At 10:19 a.m., a call came into dispatch regarding a hunting accident involving a child. When Deputy Jacky King arrived on scene, he learned from the minor victim and his mother that the incident occurred at 8:45 a.m. at a sheep farm located on Allen Pond Rd. The victim stated that he and his father were dove hunting when his father took a shot at a low-flying bird, resulting in him inadvertently being shot with pellets from a 20 gauge shotgun. Deputy King observed wounds to the victim’s face, torso and thigh. The victim was transported to Levine’s Children Hospital. Case is active.
