Hunter Recovering After Shooting Own Leg
Bridgeton — Timmy Long of Bridgeton has come home from the hospital after shooting himself in the leg almost three weeks ago. Long says he thought he heard a deer and quickly loaded his gun before climbing a deer stand in the blueberry fields of Bridgeton. He says as he reached for the gun at the top of the stand he hit the trigger.
Long says a bullet went through his thigh and he was soon in a helicopter headed for Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He’s now home helping to take care of his son before going back to work. Long also says he has his rifle back and plans to go hunting again before the end of deer season.
