Hanley Falls man shot while hunting

Hanley Falls, Minn. – A hunting accident along the Yellow Medicine River Saturday left a Hanley Falls man with only minor injuries.

Twenty-four year old Brian Bresson was hunting near Hanley Falls and was wearing the required blaze orange, when a slug hit him in his rib area, under his arm.

Bresson had been in the vicinity of a group of hunters when a deer came between the group and Bresson. It is unclear whether the group did not see him, or didn’t care he was there, as the other hunters were not found.

Three shots were fired. The one that hit Bresson caused him to fall, but just bruised his ribs. Another shot was found in a tree near where he was standing.

Yellow Medicine County Deputy Sheriff Wayne DeBliek says the case was deferred to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

“They have not told us anything else yet,”?said DeBliek.

As of print time, the hunters were not located, but could, if located, be charged with reckless use of a firearm.

The incident occurred on the first weekend of deer rifle season. The Minnesota DNR reported six hunting-related shooting accidents over the weekend.
