Three young duck hunters from Princeton, Minnesota, were rescued from their overturned boat on Rush Lake in Otter Tail County early Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
At 6:37 a.m. on Nov. 4, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office got a 911 call from a 15-year-old boy, who reported that he and two other boys — a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old — had been boating in the dark across Rush Lake when their boat flipped.
They were able to climb on top of their capsized boat and call 911. Two of the three teens were wearing lifejackets.
The three were eventually found and rescued. They were uninjured except for possible mild hypothermia, and were evaluated at the scene by EMS and medically released.
The teens said the boat rolled onto its side while they were heading out to duck hunt. The boat and most of its contents were later recovered and removed from Rush Lake, which is located between the village of Ottertail and Perham. The cause of the capsizing was not immediately determined.
