Virginia, Minn. Official Shot in Face by Fellow City Official While Hunting
by Mary Costello/ FOX 9 News AURORA, Minn. – Two men involved in a hunting accident this weekend were both reportedly Virginia, Minn. city officials.
According to the Mesabi Daily News, Virginia’s operations director, 56-year-old John Tourville, was shot by the city’s couniclor, 64-year-old Charles Baribeau, while grouse hunting on Saturday.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says the men were hunting about 20 miles south of Aurora, Minn., when a grouse flew up and Baribeau fired the round. Tourville was hit by eight pellets in the face, neck, chest, arm and hand.
The two were separated by thick cover at the time and did not see each other.
Baribeau drove Tourville to Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing for treatment. Tourville’s injuries were non-life threatening.
