A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured Monday when he was shot by his older brother in a hunting accident.
Kent County sheriff’s deputies said a 17-year-old was hunting from a tree stand in Solon Township, north of Cedar Springs, about 6 p.m. Dec. 13 when his younger brother came into the woods to call him to dinner.
The teen mistook the younger boy for a deer and accidentally shot him with a rifle, police said.
Michigan’s late antlerless firearm deer hunting season runs Dec. 13 through Jan. 1.
