Madison County officials on Friday charged two Mississippi men with hunting wild turkeys.

Dustin D. Goldsmith, 39, of McCall Creek, was charged with possession of wild game for commercial use, a Class 4 felony.

Hunter D. Baxter, 29, of Lucedale, was charged with possession of wild game for commercial use, a Class 4 felony, and unlawful use of weapons, a Class 3 felony.

According to court documents, on or about April 2 Goldsmith allegedly captured, killed or possessed wild turkeys for profit or commercial purposes.

According to court documents, on or about March 6 Baxter allegedly captured, killed or possessed wild turkeys for profit or commercial purposes. On April 29, Baxter allegedly had a silencing attachment for a firearm.

Bail for Baxter was set at $50,000.

Bail for Highsmith was set at $40,000.

Other felonies filed by Madison County officials on July 7 include:

• Gary L. Scott, 57, of Alton, was charged with burglary, a Class 2 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on July 6 Scott allegedly entered a building with the intent to commit a theft. Bail was set at $50,000.

• Desmond D. Howard, 32, of Granite City, was charged with aggravated assault, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. According to court documents, on July 6 Howard allegedly swung a closed fist at an Alton Police sergeant.
