Court Docket: Pinckney man pleads guilty to weapons charges

A Pinckney man pleaded guilty Friday to weapons charges in exchange for prosecutors dismissing hunting-related violations.

Tony Steven Hildabridle, 26, pleaded guilty as a habitual offender to being a felon in possession of a firearm in exchange for prosecutors dismissing charges he violated the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act by hunting or trapping fur-bearing animals without a license.

Police responded to a hunting complaint at about 8:15 a.m. Dec. 6 in the area of Dexter-Pinckney Road and Sarah Drive, just south of the Livingston-Washtenaw border. There, they said, co-defendant Jonathon Clayton Neal was taken into custody while a companion, later identified as Hildabridle, fled into a nearby residence.

Hildabridle had eluded capture until April.

Hildabridle faces up to life in prison when sentenced July 8, but prosecutors agreed to recommend he serve eight months to five years in prison. That sentence is to run consecutive to Hildabridle’s current prison term.

Prosecutors also dismissed charges against Hildabridle for failure to wear hunter orange, and hunting or shooting from a safety zone.

Neal was sentenced in March to two days served in the county jail and six months of probation for pleading guilty to hunting or trapping fur-bearing animals without a license.
