ME: Man indicted on 21 counts of night hunting, other violations

MACHIAS, Maine — Robert W. Johnson, 53, has been indicted by the Washington County grand jury on 36 counts, most of which are hunting violations.

Johnson is facing 21 counts of night hunting, four counts of illuminating wild animals or birds and two counts each of illegally baiting deer and hunting or possessing an antlerless deer in a wildlife management district without a permit.

In addition to those charges, Johnson was indicted on one count each of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, unlawful use of a migratory game bird to hunt, hunting under revocation, and operating a watercraft under the influence of intoxicants.

The alleged illegal activity took place between Oct. 19, 2013, and Dec. 13, 2015, in Addison, Beals and Jonesport.
