Walter Moorhead Charged In Delaware Hunting Death | Daily Voice

Salisbury resident Walter Moorhead, 74, was charged with manslaughter and other offenses after he fatally shot a woman on Friday night in Ellendale while he was hunting from a ground blind, according to Delaware State Police.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, troopers were called to an open field near South Old State Road, north of East Robbins Road, where a woman had been shot.
The Georgetown, Delaware, woman — whose name is being withheld pending notification of her family — was rushed to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators say the woman was walking through the field with a man and two children while Moorhead was hunting. He believed he saw a deer and fatally wounded her.
Moorhead was charged with:
- Manslaughter that recklessly caused the death of another person;
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony;
- Three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.
Following his arraignment, Moorhead was released after posting a $43,000 cash bond. No details about his next court appearance have been released by state police.
