A 76-year-old Selbyville man died Oct. 22 after an apparent hunting accident in Bishopville, Md.

According to Candy Thomson of the Maryland Natural Resources Police, Richard Jenkins fell from a tree stand while deer hunting.

Thomson said the tree stand is located just over the state line, about four miles from Jenkins’ home. Jenkins left to go hunting around 6 a.m. and when he did not return by 4 p.m., his wife asked a friend to check on him.

Thomson said the friend found Jenkins lying on a cement pad at the foot of the tree stand ladder. Jenkins was not wearing a safety vest or harness.
