ANNAPOLIS — Natural Resources Police on Dec. 19 charged Joseph Michael Switalski, 34, with 21 alleged poaching violations in two counties that could result in fines totaling more than $31,000 if he is found guilty of all charges.
Switalski was charged with multiple counts of failing to report and record the harvesting of three deer: a six-point buck and a doe in Kent County and an eight-point buck in Cecil County.
He also was charged with hunting on private land without written permission; failing to obtain a Bonus Antlered Stamp; exceeding the bag limit for antlered deer during bow season; butchering deer before check-in; and failing to harvest two antlerless deer before harvesting an additional antlered deer in Region B.
If he pleads guilty to all charges, Switalski faces a maximum penalty of $7,000. If he decides to go to trial and contest the charges, and is convicted of all charges, the maximum amount of fines would be $31,500, according to a news release.
