A man was transported by medevac to a Baltimore area hospital after sustaining a gunshot to the head in a reported hunting accident, according to an Allegany County Joint Communications Center spokesperson.
The incident was reported just before 9 a.m. near the intersection of Daily Road and Green Ridge Road and involved an approximately 30-year-old man, according to the Joint Communications Center.
State Route 51 was closed in the area for fire department personnel to land a Maryland State Police Aviation Command medevac helicopter.
Units from Oldtown, District 16, Paw Paw volunteer fire departments, an ambulance from Allegany County Department of Emergency Services, two MSP Aviation Command medevacs, Maryland Department of Natural Resource Police and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
Law enforcement was not immediately available for comment Saturday.
