Two DeQuincy men have been accused of duck hunting violations in Calcasieu parish, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The department says they received information that a pond had been baited near the Sulphur area and set up surveillance to observe. They say two men were then seen actively hunting over the baited area on Jan. 31, 2025.

When agents spoke with the pair, they said they found them in possession of two wood ducks and were using toxic shot. The two wood ducks were seized.

Agents say citations were given to Billy Brown, 35, and Evan Stanley, 31, for hunting migratory game birds over a baited area, placing bait to take migratory game birds, violating non-toxic shot requirements, and aiding and abetting others in taking migratory game birds over bait.

Brown was also cited for hunting migratory game birds with an unplugged gun and without possessing a federal duck stamp.

This migratory game bird case will be filed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution in Federal Court.
