State Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents cited two men Monday accused of illegally shooting and killing a deer and a malamute husky dog early Saturday in East Baton Rouge and East Feliciana parishes, a Wildlife and Fisheries spokesman said.
After receiving a tip of possible night hunting in the northern section of East Baton Rouge Parish, agents investigated the area and found Ryan Stogner, 20, of Denham Springs, and Nicholas Tarver, 21, of Zachary, Wildlife and Fisheries spokesman Adam Einck said.
Agents found a white tail doe the pair had shot and killed earlier in the night, and agents also learned the two men shot and killed a malamute husky belonging to an East Feliciana couple along La. 409, Einck said.
The men were cited with two counts each of taking deer during illegal hours, taking deer from a public road, hunting from a moving vehicle, hunting without basic and big game licenses and violating deer tagging regulations.
They were cited for aggravated cruelty to animals, and Stogner was cited for discharging a firearm from a public road.
