Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement says a fatal hunting accident is under investigation.

Authorities said on Thursday the incident has resulted in the death of a 71-year-old man.

Based on a preliminary investigation, authorities say they believe the man fell from a tree stand while hunting.

The victim was found by his hunting partner after he failed to return, authorities say.

The case remains under an open investigation at this time.
