Endangered otter found in drainage ditch
Northern River Otters such as this one are seldom seen in Indiana. A similar otter was found by a local trapper was caught it in a drainage ditch on Dec. 29. The otter was unharmed and released without incident, according to Indiana Conservation Officer Blaine Gillan.
The Northern River Otter that Blaine Gillan was trying to release from a trap on Dec. 29 was not very happy.

The Indiana Conservation Officer had been called to a drainage ditch on a farm in Montgomery County because a local trapper had reported that he accidentally had captured an otter.
What made that report rather strange was the fact otters had disappeared from the area in the early 1940s.
