A hunting accident during a pheasant hunting trip at Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife Area in Newton County sent one Lake Village hunter to the hospital for an eye injury.

Danny Oliver, 39, of Lake Village, suffered an injury to his eye around 11 a.m. Tuesday when a single shotgun pellet fired by his hunting partner struck him in the right eye.

Oliver was hunting with David Young, 46, of Hebron, for pheasant. Young failed to notice that Oliver changed location in the field before firing a single shot at a flushing pheasant, and Oliver was struck in the right eye.
