A Demotte hunter was injured on Tuesday after falling from a tree stand in Newton County, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said.

Tyler Claus, 18, fell approximately 20 feet to the ground, apparently after falling asleep in his tree stand, the DNR said. Claus was able to phone a friend who was hunting nearby and then transported to Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, Ill., for treatment of a possible broken hip, the DNR said.

A Brookville, Ind., hunter was injured on Monday after falling from his tree stand in Franklin County, the DNR reported earlier this week.
