IL: Injured hunter rescued after fall from deer stand in remote area

A 75-year-old man was injured Thursday morning when he fell out of a deer stand near New Athens, police said.

“The accident happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the Kaskaskia Fish and Wildlife Area off Pike Sawmill Road south of New Athens. He took a shot at a deer and the top part of his climbing stand collapsed and he fell out of the tree. He was not wearing a safety harness.”
