Hunting instructor accused of falsifying deer-hunting records

A hunting-safety instructor and his wife face multiple charges of allegedly falsifying deer-hunting records and loaning hunting permits to others.

Edward “Wayne” Pratt, 58, and Mary “Buffy” Pratt, 57, of rural Beardstown were issued citations for wildlife and criminal offenses, according to a state Department of Natural Resources news release. Edward Pratt is a DNR master hunter safety instructor.

Mary Pratt was cited four times for alleged unlawful loaning of deer permits to another and four citations for unlawful falsification of required DNR deer-harvest records.

Edward Pratt was issued four citations accusing him of unlawful loaning of deer permits to another, four citations for unlawful falsification of deer-harvest records and one for criminal trespass.

The charges allege Edward used permits issued to Mary. Mary was reported as the one who killed the deer.

All of the citations are Class A misdemeanors, which carry a maximum fine of $2,500 and up to one year in jail. The Pratts were released after posting $100 bond each.
