Iowa man struck in leg with bullet while hunting coyote

WOODBINE, Iowa (AP) — A western Iowa man has been injured while hunting coyote in Harrison County.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 40-year-old Rex Baxter of Woodbine was injured Saturday. According to the department, Baxter was putting his high-powered rifle in a vehicle when it fired. Authorities says a bullet struck Baxter in one leg and became lodged in his other leg.

The department says the incident is under investigation.

Authorities say Baxter was taken to a hospital in Missouri Valley and then transferred to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
