A 56-year-old man died on Saturday after he was fatally wounded by a friend with whom he had gone hunting for wild boar in the region of Arcadia, southern Greece.

The two men were in a wooded area of ​​Chrysochori when the victim was shot by his 42-year-old friend who heard a noise in the bush and thought it was an animal.

The alleged shooter, who is from the town of Ilia, was arrested and is facing charges of manslaughter by negligence.

The Tripoli Crime Investigation Department has taken over the case.
