A father and son were arrested for hunting on county property in the early morning of Nov. 8. Corporal Lynn Stanford and Ranger Matt Johnson of the Department of Natural Resources reported two men trespassing on Putnam County government property at Godfrey Road and Martin Mill Road.

Ronald Christopher George, 40, 3615 Cobblestone, Loganville, and Richard Byron George, 65, 2005 Foster Drive, Cumming, were seen on the property retrieving a deer that had just been killed.

Stanford noted in the report that “nobody is allowed to be using or to be on the county property due to a methane leak.”

When Johnson and Stanford went to the property to investigate, they noticed the lock on the gate was “busted off the chain” and there were “fresh tracks entering and exiting the property.” He also noted the “Keep out” and “No trespassing” signs were visible.

They admitted they had opened the gate and drove onto the county property to retrieve a deer, but they said they did not damage the lock.
