Out-of-state hunters charged for hunting at night, from vehicle
Three North Carolina hunters have been arrested for hunting deer at night from a vehicle in Wilkes County.
Rangers from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources arrested Cody Messer, 22, of Clyde, N.C.; Tyler Messer, 22, of Canton, N.C., and Michael Deaver, 17, of Canton at 2:30 a.m. on October 25 on Callaway Road.
Each of the three men were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a vehicle, and hunting across a public road. They were each released on $1,472 bond later that afternoon.
In a separate incident, James Cape, 62, of Anderson, S.C., was arrested by DNR rangers and charged with hunting deer over bait and violation of the non-resident license law. He was released on $690 cash bond.
All four are due in Wilkes County court December 12.
