3 arrested after 4 dead deer found in van
MIAMI — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission arrested three South Florida men after four deer were found dead inside a van.
The FWC said Friday it is illegal to hunt deer when it is not deer hunting season. Deer season starts in the fall and runs until January.
Authorities charged Lazaro Lopez, Andres Mena Jr. and Andres Mena Sr. with four counts each of illegally taking deer at night with a gun and a light during the closed season and four counts each of hunting from a county-maintained road. The men were booked into the Hendry County Jail on the misdemeanor charges.
A jail official said that only Lopez remained in jail on Friday. It was not immediately known if any of the men had attorneys.
