Hunter accidentally shot in Ellington
Gun accidentally discharged and struck hunter

Ellington, Conn (WTNH) – State police are investigating a hunting accident
that sent one man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
45-year-old Patrick Farrell and 61-year-old Ronald Iacobucci, both of South
Windsor, were hunting in Ellington Saturday morning.
As the hunters walked out of the woods, Farrell stopped to unload and make
safe his muzzle loader rifle. While Farrell was unloading, the rifle
accidentally discharged. The projectile from from the gun struck Iacobucci
in the lower leg.
Iacobucci was provided emergency care at the scene and was transported by
Ellington Ambulance to Hartford Hospital for treatment. The Department of
Environmental Protection assisted with the examination of the hunting scene.
The preliminary investigation by Ellington police revealed that this appears
to be accidental with no criminal aspect. The investigation is continuing.
