14-year-old Ian Dante Muro was shot and killed while on a hunting trip with his family in the San Isabel National Forest. It appears the teen accidentally shot himself.
The boy’s Muro’s family reportedly found him lying face up, with his rifle across his chest. He had been shot in the chest.
It happened four miles west of County Road 221 near Forest Service Road 222 on national forest land on Saturday around after 5:00 p.m.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s office says although a preliminary investigations indicates that the fatal shot was self-inflicted accidentally.
