The body of one of the two brothers who went missing while duck hunting in Thermalito Afterbay weeks ago has been found, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office said.
Andruw Cornett, 19, and Wesley Cornett, 17, have been missing since Dec. 14. The two brothers were out in the Thermalito Afterbay when one of the hunter’s kayaks overturned, the sheriff’s office said. The other one went into the water after them.
Multiple law enforcement and rescue agencies, along with civilian diver Juan Heredia, have been searching for them since.
Around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a pilot for the Butte County Sheriff’s Office was flying over the north side of the Afterbay as part of the search and spotted a body, officials said. The sheriff’s marine unit and search and rescue team pulled the body from the water.

The sheriff’s office identified the body as Andruw Cornett.
Officials also said the pilot who found the body was forced to land during the recovery due to a drone flying too close. They warned that the use of drones in the area impedes the ability of the sheriff’s office pilots to search.
