A young man has spent a night trapped under his ute while seriously injured after crashing during a pig-hunting expedition in rural Queensland.

The man, aged in his 20s, was driving on a road in the Banana region, west of Gladstone, during his hunt on Tuesday night.

He crashed when he “swerved to miss a pig” in the middle of the road, according to RACQ LifeFlight Rescue.

He suffered a serious leg injury.

His friends found him about 5am the following day.

They lifted the ute off him and drove him to the local medical centre.

A paramedic drove him to a sports field where a LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was waiting for him.

The man was flown to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.
