Chaffee Security Trio ID’d In Poaching Case

Three officers with the Department of Public Safety at Fort Chaffee who were cited for poaching have been identified.
Justin Oliver, Jerami Hodges and Jeffrey Cox recently resigned amid an investigation into suspected poaching of deer on Fort Chaffee land, according to Keith Stephens, spokesman for the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.
The three, who have been employed at Fort Chaffee ranging from 11?2 to seven years, are suspected of hunting a 12-point buck and two 10-point bucks, Stephens said. Two of the men were cited for night hunting and the other for hunting out of season, he said.
Authorities received information from members of the public regarding night hunting and hunting out of season for deer, Stephens said.
“They (the trio) confessed to several violations,” Stephens said to the Times Record last week.
Capt. Chris Heathscott, state public affairs officer with the Arkansas National Guard., told the Times Record last week that the Guard is following up with implementing some internal measures “to improve our operations on post so this doesn’t occur on Fort Chaffee in the future.”.
