Bradley Grogan and three friends were hunting Jan. 18 in Russell County. Grogan was in a tree stand, 16 or 17 feet off the ground. He removed his harness when he started to climb down.

He’s not sure exactly what happened next, but it ended with Grogan on the ground, flat on his back. He fractured five vertebrae, causing swelling and contusions of the spinal cord.
