A call went in to the Alaska State Troopers on Tuesday morning at approximately 8:12 am reporting the sudden death of a moose hunter upriver from Takotna.

Troopers were dispatched to Takotna aboard a department Cessna 182, where they were transported to the scene 40 miles upriver from the community to the scene of the incident by residents there.

The investigation at the site found that 45-year-old Takotna resident Louis Abraham had died while on a hunting trip with his son. The two had just shot a moose and had completed field dressing the animal when the elder Abraham collapsed.
