7-year-old hit with birdshot during family dove shoot

WASHINGTON COUNTY — An 11-year-old boy is the apparent shooter of his 7-year-old brother who was taken to the hospital in Chipley with birdshot wounds, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s weekly report.

The boys were on a family dove shoot on private property when the younger boy was hit with birdshot. He had several pellet wounds that broke the skin.

An adult was supervising the boys at the time.

The FWC has opened a hunting accident investigation on the case.
