An Elkhart man was injured Friday when he fell while removing a tree stand from Pigeon River Fish & Wildlife Area in LaGrange County, Indiana conservation officers said.
Mark J. Miller, 40, was taken by private vehicle to a hospital, conservation officers said in a statement.
It said Miller was removing a tree stand when the ladder to the stand bent, causing him to fall about 15 feet from the tree and injure his right ankle.
Miller called his wife, who contacted a friend who knew the location of the tree stand, conservation officers said.
They said conservation officers, firefighters from Stroh and Mongo and workers from the fish and wildlife area carried him through rough terrain to the nearest road. At the road, he was treated by LaGrange County EMS.
The incident is being investigated by conservation officers.
