A Warrenville man is accused of illegal hunting after a game warden caught him and three others shooting a hog from the back of a moving truck Nov. 21, the warden said.

Daniel Alan Palmer, 24, of Hawk Street, was booked into Charles B. Webster Detention Center on charges of hunting at night with the aid of a light, discharging a firearm from a public road and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Richmond County jail records. He has since been released.

After hearing two gunshots, Cpl. Ben Payne, of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Law Enforcement Division was able to find Palmer and three juveniles who admitted they were hunting for hogs out of the back of the pickup.

Payne said the group had a pistol and a shotgun and had been using a spotlight to search for animals.

The hog being hunted by the group was not harmed.
